Our History
Redeemer Presbyterian Church is a witness to God’s faithful care of His people, His church. For thirty-some years, through organizational ups and downs, He has shepherded this flock with patience and charity. Soli Deo Gloria!
Redeemer began as a Bible study conducted by Licentiate Scott Kroeger in August.
Jon Maas, an unordained Covenant Seminary student, began meeting with the group which, in April, held its first church service at the Boone Electric Co-op building. The Missouri Presbytery was petitioned to authorize it as a mission church with Mr. Maas as organizing pastor. Sunday worship services later moved to Epple Chapel at Lenoir Woods Senior Living Community.
Jon Mass resigned to join the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps. Pulpit supply was used until September when Covenant Seminary student Don Jefferson came to Redeemer as an unordained worker.
Mr. Jefferson was ordained and installed as an organizing pastor with a temporary Session from Missouri Presbytery..
-1989 Sunday worship services moved to Green Meadows Daycare Center. During this period, membership and attendance decreased to the point that Redeemer met as a small group at the Jefferson home. However, eventually the congregation grew enough that services were able to return to the Epple Chapel location. In November, 1989, Missouri Presbytery approved a petition for Redeemer to become a particular church of the PCA.
The fiscal status of Redeemer became a concern, and Pastor Jefferson pursued bi-vocational ministry for a few years until the finances stabilized.
The congregation contracted with Olivet Christian Church for the use of the former OCC sanctuary and educational building, providing a location that could be used throughout the week.
Redeemer developed by-laws and incorporated with the State of Missouri.
-2005 Acreage was purchased and ground was broken for church construction on the property at 101 North Grace Lane.
The congregation moved into the new church building.
- 2009 Pastor Jefferson resigned effective December 31, 2007. Dr. Robert Peterson, professor at Covenant Seminary, served as interim pastor.
-2011 Rev. Joseph E. Rolison was called, installed, and served as Teaching Elder.
Rev. Chris Baker served as interim pastor during the search for a new pastor.
Ryan Speck, a graduate of Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and Associate Pastor at Immanuel Presbyterian Church (PCA), Norfolk, VA, was called to be Redeemer’s pastor. He was officially installed on October 28, 2012.
